Leiyan Ma started her business 20 years ago after moving to Canada from China. She would save recipes from the newspaper whenever she visited China and bring them back to Canada as inspiration for her menu for the market.

Leiyan and her family share the flavours of China with market-goers in Food Alley each Saturday. And although she retired from her day job two years ago, her loyal customer base is what has kept her continuing the market tradition. She says they’re like friends and make all her work worthwhile!

She takes great pride in sharing her culture through food with the people of Fredericton and only serves traditional Chinese food (although she will provide sweet and sour sauce on request!)
