Whalen Apiaries

Unpasteurized local honey has a lot of benefits. Mike and Kathy Whalen, of Whalen Apiaries, say people use their honey as a natural way to combat seasonal allergies. It is thought that by consuming local honey you also ingest the local plant pollen and that the exposure can make you less sensitive to it.

Mike is very passionate about beekeeping. He finds it very therapeutic to be in the yard with the bees. He has over 400 hives that each produce anywhere from 60 to 200 pounds of honey.

Along with local unpasteurized honey, they sell all-natural beeswax products, including non-toxic candles. You can find them every week inside the Market, where they’re happy to talk all things bees and honey!
