Pickel Farms

You might recognize Roger Pickel as the friendly Christmas tree farmer you see around town at Christmas time.

He has been selling Christmas trees in the courtyard at the market every year since he started his business at only 20 years of age. What you may not know is that by purchasing their fiddleheads, you’re helping the Pickel family purchase fertilizer for their Christmas trees!

Roger’s passion for the outdoors, along with the support of his family and the community, has led him to keep his business going for over 30 years now! One thing that helped him through the hard times was selling fiddleheads when the fluctuations in exports affected his business. Nowadays, he continues the tradition of selling this local favourite to help cover the cost of fertilizer on the farm and catch up with the community.

You can find the Pickels in the courtyard with their fiddleheads for about four weeks in the spring every year, and every Saturday at Christmastime, where he says he plans to come for the rest of his life!
